Viki Hart
Viki Hart, Soprano
Viki was born in Stockton-on-Tees, learned the piano and violin from an early age, and started having singing lessons in her teens. She was a member of school and county choirs, and gained a place in the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, taking part in two World tours. She received a BMus(Hons)from Lancaster University majoring in performance, technology and conducting, and was awarded the Director of Music's Prize for her final vocal recital. She continued studying and performing at Durham University, and moved to London to train on English National Opera's performance course 'The Knack', after which she worked for ENO as a vocal animateur.
Viki gained an Advanced Postgraduate Vocal Diploma from Trinity College of Music studying voice with Alison Wells and Robert Aldwinkle. While at Trinity she earned a place on the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, mentoring scheme and was awarded the Paul Simms opera prize for her portrayal of Soeur Constance in Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmelites. Other recent roles include the Queen on the Night in The Magic Flute(Hampstead Garden Opera), Margarite in Faust(Guildford Opera Company), Delilah/Israelite Woman in Handel's Samson(York Minster, YMS), Verdi's Requiem soloist (York Minster), Frasquita in Carmen(Mean Time Opera), Cleopatra in Julius Caesar(Runaway Opera), Gretel in Hansel and Gretel(Runaway Opera), and several performances as the soprano soloist in Carmina Burana.
Viki is a founding member of The Singing Servers and Operadagio, and has recently been the voice of Bahrain Airlines and Silverjet Airlines. Viki is also a teacher, animateur and instrumental tutor.
Future projects include Mme Herz in Der Schauspieldirektor in Poland, Brahms Requiem with Mountain Ash & District Choral Society, Hymnus Paradisi(Howells) with Cleveland Philharmonic Choir, and opera recitals across the North of England.
